The Ottawa Senators blew a 3-0 lead before redeeming themselves in overtime, the Washington Capitals are still very much in their series with the Toronto Maple Leafs even with their Game 3 loss, and Calgary's chances of winning its series were quite modest to begin with. We've said this a lot already - we've been here before in the past, being down three games to none to make it all the way back to Game 7 and lose in overtime.
Early in the third period, Filip Forsberg put one past Hawks goaltender Corey Crawford that warranted a video review. Rinne was outside of the net, anticipating collecting the puck from behind the net, and had to dive back, reaching his stick in front of the net to prevent the goal.
Rinne stole Game 1, but Nashville mostly dominated Game 2. "I think our guys, they don't have a confidence issue when it comes to scoring goals".
- Canadian teams, after going 0-5 to start they playoffs have gone 8-2 since then. He took a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle that beat Rinne for his first goal. Kane became the fourth Chicago player with 50 career goals, joining Bobby Hull, Denis Savard and Stan Mikita. Like we were saying going into tonight, we just gotta win the next one. The forward actually had three chances to end this one in overtime. Cassidy said they'll see who can skate Monday morning and go from there.
Kevin Fiala scores the game-winner for the Predators in Game 3.
On a night when the Blackhawks blocked 30 shot attempts and forced another 15 to miss the target high or wide, Fiala got seven of his eight on the net. Fiala received a ideal pass in the slot from winger James Neal. This save and the breakaway save on Nick Schmaltz in the third period really swung the momentum in the Predators favor at different points in the game.
Dennis Rasmussen set up shop at the top of the crease and Marcus Kruger fed him from behind the net.
Forsberg then flicked home a wrister from the slot at 14:08, jumping on the carom of Ryan Ellis' point blast. But don't overlook the magnitude of what the Preds are doing: It's not just that the Blackhawks are a consistently tough out in the playoffs, with a core of players that's won three Cups since 2010. Both teams would survive the remaining six minutes of play, taking the game into overtime. It doesn't seem it because we ended up scoring two goals after that. The defense of Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson and Brian Campbell needs to be faster to loose pucks and help Crawford, who has done his part this series.
Prior to these two goals, Pekka Rinne had been spotless, stopping everything in his way.
How Chicago Comes Back: Chicago needs to find a way to break down the defensive shell that Nashville has created.
