In honor of police week, the Missoula Police Department is having a law enforcement memorial ceremony Thursday night.
"We lose a lot of officers every year in the line of duty, but we also lose a lot of officers across the country to poor physical fitness and health", Stroud said.
The memorial features two curving, 304-foot-long blue-gray marble walls, guarded by four lion statues.

This week, the United States will honor our courageous law enforcement officers during National Police Week.
"2016 was a particularly rough year for law enforcement", she said. "We leave the egos at the door and just have a good time with each other".
This tribute to American law enforcement officers is part of the historic crime bill that President Bill Clinton signed into law in 1994.
"When violent criminals threaten our communities, peace officers are the first ones to shield others from harm", Cohen added.
One of the family members of fallen Hattiesburg police officer Jessie James Everett, Debbie Everett, was in attendance for the ceremony.
"As we honor the work and sacrifices made by our law enforcement officers throughout Police Week, we need to offer more than kind words - we need action to support law enforcement as they work to keep OH communities safe", Brown said.
"They do this assuming that they will be able to go home to their families at the end of their shift". It included law enforcement from state and local departments.
Denise Hunter handed Thompson's parents a bracelet she wore during a 250-mile bike ride from Virginia to Washington D.C.in honor of the fallen.
"Just last month we saw officers and thousands of members of the public line the route of the cortege for the funeral of PC Keith Palmer, who was murdered in the terrorist attack on Westminster".
Five Pine Belt agencies from Forrest and Lamar counties were honored during the ceremony held at the Lake Terrace Convention Center.
