Unfortunately, North Korea does not appear at all likely to be so charitable toward Trump. Most South Koreans shrug off the North's threats and seek to avoid war at all costs.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping (R) shake hands prior to a meeting on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, July 8, 2017.
In a separate meeting with Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, the USA president said the two countries were tackling "the problem and menace of North Korea".
The drill simulated the two U.S. bombers destroying enemy ballistic missile batteries and South Korean jets mounting precision strikes against underground enemy command posts, it said.
An all-out conflict could then ensue. Trump said in on Twitter on July 5.
The official provided no further details about Trump's comments. "We will use them if we must, but we prefer not to have to go in that direction", Haley said. The North has successfully tested new short-, medium-, and intermediate-range missiles, each with distinct improvements over the actual combat capabilities of their predecessors. The administration has been reviewing its overall North Korea policy for months, having declared earlier attempts at "strategic patience" with the North to have failed.
Mr Trump is also right to ask China to exert pressure on North Korea over its nuclear programme, but he has not had much success here, even though he can not be completely blamed for this. Trump also had a brief, unscheduled meeting with Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the situation in Syria.
Xi stressed the importance of talks with North Korea, and said China's Navy will join next year's US -led Pacific Rim military exercises.
Chris Johnson, a spokesman for the agency, said the weapon system at the Pacific Spaceport Complex Alaska in Kodia would "detect, track and engage a target with a THAAD interceptor".
"Even on trade Trump underscored that he wants cooperation", Ruan said. Not because Pyongyang can destroy America - the United States response to any first strike nuclear missile attack against it would be so devastating that North Korea would simply not exist - but because the stakes would be so much higher.
Hamburg: The heads of the world's two largest economies brushed over differences on North Korea and trade as they met in person for the second time. The North Koreans, who are very eccentric but not stupid, rushed to accelerate their nuclear weapons and delivery systems. Chinese state media said Xi warned Trump that "negative factors" are hurting U.S.
Some people, possibly including members of Donald Trump's administration, think we can't count on being able to deter North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un, because he is callow, unpredictable and bellicose.
Mattis told a House committee last month that if it came to a fight, the US and its allies would prevail, but at a cost that is hard to imagine.
"They know that. We know that, and we need to see some more action going accordingly", Haley said.
Because North Korea has scraped and skimped for decades to build nuclear weapons for the sole reason of deterring a major USA attack, including the use by the United States of tactical nuclear weapons. The vast majority of Americans are blissfully unaware there is any hypocrisy involved in demanding that North Korea refrain from getting what the USA has had for the past 72 years.
Both Trump and Haley put the spotlight on China, with the US leader voicing his frustration in recent days that Beijing hasn't done more. The current strategy involves economic sanctions, military deterrence, and diplomatic pressure in an effort to force Pyongyang to the negotiating table.
Mattis said the North's intercontinental missile capability doesn't "in itself bring us closer to war".
"The President and Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, have been very clear that we are leading with diplomatic and economic efforts".
"Beijing and Washington saw friction on issues including Taiwan and the South China Sea ahead of the meeting, and there was speculation from Western public opinion that the China-US "honeymoon" had come to an end".
Some analyst also said that North Korea can build an atomic bomb than can fit on a long-range missile. United States and Chinese officials suggested they were satisfied with the talks, which ran for about 90 minutes. It may take longer than you'd like.
North Korea has yet to respond to Moon's proposal.
