In an attempt to answer that question, we've submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the Justice Department seeking a transcript of Sessions' speech and other information about his participation in the ADF event.
Joel Kasnetz, a spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee, said in a statement Sessions' willingness to speak to Alliance Defending Freedom speaks volumes about his approach as attorney general.
ADF, also did not respond to IBTimes request for comment.
Sessions downplayed the issue as a minor mistake and said the meetings were insignificant.
"I know we overuse certain words in the lexicon like unprecedented and historic and unique", said Chuck Rosenberg, acting administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration. "That is inalienable. That is our heritage".
"D.A.R.E.is, I think, as I indicated, the best remembered anti-drug program today", Sessions said.
Now the ADF is backing Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips' fight against the state of Colorado's laws blocking businesses from refusing customers service based on race, sex, marital status or sexual orientation.
The form confirms what the public already knows: Sessions did not disclose meetings he had a year ago with Russian officials when he applied for his security clearances.
"D.A.R.E. does not work to reduce substance use".
"Many times during the Obama administration, HRC hosted appearances by the president, vice president and Cabinet officials - I can not remember a single instance in which those remarks were not fully open to the media and the remarks and/or video made widely available to the public", Stacy added.
"Last year, an estimated 59,000 Americans died from a drug overdose, many linked to the misuse of prescription drugs".
He added, "Under this administration, religious Americans will be treated neither as an afterthought nor as a problem to be managed".
The group asked for portions of Sessions' Standard Form 86 that discloses information about the attorney general's contacts with "any official in the Russian government".
In 2016, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) designated ADF a "hate group" for its opposition to LGBT rights. We will bring you to justice. The Supreme Court recently announced it was taking up Phillips's case.
The Standard Form 86, more commonly called SF86, is a detailed form required to obtain security clearance for certain government positions.
