He said that Nitish was heading the "sarkari JD (U)", while the "JD (U) of workers" was with him.
Shah confirmed the rumours on Saturday after he tweeted, "I met JD (U) president Nitish Kumar at my residence yesterday".
On Saturday morning the representatives of JD (U) wrote a letter to Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu saying that instead of Sharad Yadav, RCP Singh will be the leader of the parliamentary party in the Rajya Sabha and Naidu gave his approval for the change in leader.
Ansari said the faction led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has become a "Sarkari JD (U)".
He said it was the people who had made the Grand Alliance of RJD, JD-U and Congress in the 2015 Bihar Assembly polls and given their mandate to rule for five years. He has been told (by JD-U) that he is free now and he can leave the party.
Earlier on Thursday, Yadav had said that the split in the Grand Alliance had really hurt him.
"On Friday they suspended me from the parliamentary party". Now, that Sharad has been removed the party's leader post in Rajya Sabha, he will have to sit in the back benches. Though the latter lacks a support base of the nature of other mass leaders, his stature as a senior leader from the Mandal camp is seen as a political asset which, coupled with the backing of other opposition parties, could provide ballast for their campaign in Bihar. We were ready to go there and put forth our views, but Nitish seems to be afraid of what we will say. "The JD (U) will formally pass a resolution during the national executive meeting in Patna to join the NDA on August 19. Kumar's decision to align with the BJP is unacceptable", Ansari said.style="text-align: center;"
