Trump has pushed China to pressure North Korea to halt a nuclear weapons program that is nearing the capability of targeting the United States. "That is their ticket to survival, and I don't see any way they're going to give it up". North Korean officials in turn have accused the USA leader of driving the Korean peninsula to the brink of nuclear war.
CIA Director Mike Pompeo said on Sunday that President Trump would consider it "unacceptable" for North Korea to possess a nuclear-armed ballistic missile capable of striking the United States - a development believed to be soon within Pyongyang's reach.
"I will not be surprised that they will do another missile test".
Pompeo's remarks cap a week in which US President Donald Trump vowed "fire and fury" if North Korea continued to threaten the United States with nuclear weapons, and Pyongyang countered by announcing plans to test-launch missiles toward Guam. "They expand the envelope", he said.
Both sides have used hostile rhetoric, with President Donald Trump threatening "fire and fury" on the North.
North Korea, for its part, threatened to shoot four missiles towards the island of Guam, a strategic outpost of the u.s. forces in the Pacific, where are stationed about 6,000 american soldiers.
He added, "That's exactly the policy of the Trump administration".
"I am quite confident that (North Korean leader Kim Jong Un) will continue to try to develop his missile program, so it wouldn't surprise me if there was another missile test".
But Mr Pompeo denied that a threat of a nuclear conflict was imminent, saying: "I've heard folks talking about being on the cusp of a nuclear war".
"He responds to adverse circumstances", he said.
He said he doesn't think the U.S.is closer to war than a week ago, but closer to war than a decade ago.
"Our response is we're prepared militarily to deal with this if necessary". "But make no mistake about it, the continuation - the increased chance that there will be a nuclear missile in Denver - is a very serious threat".
Worldwide communities including India agrees that North Korea Is imposing serious threat against the United State.
The call came after Trump made fresh threats against North Korea on Friday, declaring the USA military "locked and loaded" and warning Kim that he "will regret it fast" if he takes any action against US territories or allies. "But the objective of capable, ready forces is to preserve peace and prevent war".
